Moving to the Geraldine area? 
We would like to help make your move as easy as possible.  We have compiled some of the frequently asked questions.


County Seat
  • Fort Payne is the County seat - the court house is located on Grand Avenue, Fort Payne.  A satellite office is located in Rainsville

Facebook page
  • The Town has a Facebook page named "Geraldine,AL"  to keep the community informed on current events and news.  Feel free to post things of community interest . The profile picture is the town emblem.

 Fire Department 
  •   Geraldine Volunteer Fire Dept is rated one of the highest in the area.  Fire reports can be picked up at town hall Monday -   Friday  8 am - 4 pm.  The Fire Dept has a rating of 5X. 

 Garbage Service
  • Residential garbage collection is handled by Arrow Disposal (ADSI) 866-440-3983

 Park
  • Geraldine has a beautiful park that's a great place to relax.  It can be accessed by Park Street or Co Road 52 off of AL Hwy 227.  Check out the Parks & Recreation section for more information.  It includes a splash pad, walking track, ball fields, tennis courts, and basketball courts.

 Schools
  • Geraldine High School  is a 3a school and has grades K-12.  There are approximately  1206  students.    (256) 659-2142

 Storm Shelter 
  • Located behind Town Hall in case of inclement weather.  It is open any time there are severe weather threats.
  • First Methodist Church also offers a basement in case of severe weather. It is located  on Hwy. 227 near the Geraldine Public Library.
  • ​First Baptist Church is a designated Severe weather shelter.  The portion of the church which is designated is located in the Fellowship Hall. It is located on Hwy 227 and the corner of Park Street.

 Telephone
  • Farmers Telephone is the local co-op for telephone services. (256) 638-2144


Utilities-Geraldine is unique because we are the dividing line between the two electric & water companies.
  • Property south of Hwy 227 is powered by Marshall DeKalb Electric. (256) 593-4262
  • North of Hwy 227 is powered by Sand Mountain Electric. (256) 638-2153
  • Northeast Water (256) 845-6186 & Waterworks Board of Section (256) 638-2119 both serve the area.  You will need to contact them for information regarding your exact location.

 Utility bills
  • Your utility bill can be paid at the Geraldine Town Hall- Monday thru Friday - 8 am to 4 pm. We offer this service as a courtesy.
  • We accept Marshall DeKalb, Sand Mountain Electric, Northeast Water, Waterworks Board of Section.
  • We cannot take past due bills or partial payments.
  • You must bring your entire bill.
  • Check, cash or money order only.  We do NOT take credit or debit cards for utility bills.
