A Message From the Mayor
I am very thankful to be able to serve the people of the Town of Geraldine and the surrounding area. While proud of our small town atmosphere, I realize the importance of making things better for our citizens by providing services to meet their needs.
In 2013 we received a grant from USDA-Rural Development to build a wastewater treatment plant. This will not only improve the quality of life for our citizens, but will also attract new business. In 2013, we also received a grant from FEMA that assisted us in acquiring a storm shelter that accommodates around 100 people.
Former councilmember Larry Shellhorse spent numerous hours working to restore our park to a place of beauty after the tornado of 2010 left it in shambles. With the financial assistance of numerous people, we were able to set out more than 100 trees. We would not have been able to do this without the generosity of one of our citizens and former Council member and owner of Crossville Nurseries, Bobby Austin. A well was drilled to irrigate the trees and the entire area around the walking track. Other beautification projects have been done thanks to Larry and former council member Tim Guest and their vast knowledge of landscaping as well as their willingness to spend the time and effort necessary to make these projects a reality.
Our Police Department is second to none and headed by Chief Heath Albright. They strive to keep our area safe, including our schools, businesses and our citizens.
We are very fortunate to have the expertise of Katina Blanchett as our Town Clerk and Court Clerk / Magistrate. Katina is smart, hard working and a fast learner. She has a great attitude, with a desire for success in all undertakings. her greatest asset is a burning desire to please God in everything she does. She also has the legal knowledge needed to administer the court business.
I am very thankful to have such a great group of people to serve alongside that is willing to focus on serving the needs of the people in our area. I welcome your suggestions and covet your prayers as we strive to continue the efforts of the seven previous Mayors and the numerous Council members that have served our town since 1956. I invite you to visit our town, our park, our stores and join with us as we continue to make Geraldine "A Town of Progress."
