 The clerk's office is the central office of town operations.  We know your time is valuable so we have listed answers to a few of the most frequently asked questions below.

                                          Answers to  Frequently Asked Questions

  • Accident Reports-  are usually available within three days.  There is a $5.00 charge.  The report can be picked up at the clerk's office.
  • Business License  
    • The Town of Geraldine requires a business license to conduct business within the town limits or its police jurisdiction.  Please click on the BUSINESS LICENSE PAGE in this website for more information.  Avenu (formerly RDS) handles all business license applications and payments.  Contact Avenu at 1-800-556-7274.  Business license are due Jan. 1st of each year.  They are considered late after Feb 1st with a 15% penalty plus 1% interest, an additional 15% penalty after March 2 plus 1% interest per month thereafter.

  • Park Events
    • Ball games held at the park are not scheduled through this office.  You will need to contact the league's coach.
    • The pavilion by the pond is available for rent.  See the PARKS & RECREATION PAGE for info.
    • The splash pad is free of charge.  It normally opens the day after school is out through Labor Day .  See the PARKS & RECREATION PAGE for info.
  • Payables & Receivables are handled through this office.

  • Sales Tax - 9% retail sales - Avenu collects all sales tax
  • Special Events- The Town is responsible for several events annually.  These can be found under NEWS & EVENTS.  If you would like to volunteer to help with one of the town's annual events, please contact us.
  • Street Light Request-  There are certain criteria to be considered before a street light can be added.  You may pick up a light request application at the town hall.
  • Utilities in Geraldine are unique because we are a dividing point for both electric and water utilities.  Please contact the appropriate utility below depending on your address:
    • Electric south of Hwy 227  is powered by Marshall DeKalb Electric Co-op (256) 593-4262
    • Electric north of Hwy 227 is powered by Sand Mountain Electric Co-op (256) 638-2153
    • Garbage service is handled by Arrow Disposal (ADSI)  (866) 440-3983
    • Telephone service is handled by Farmers Telephone (256) 638-2144
    • Sewer Service (where available) is handled by Waterworks Board of Section (256) 638-2119
    • Water is supplied by either Northeast Water  (256) 845-6186  or Waterworks Board of Section (256) 638-2119
